A group of six Irish lads from the University of Limerick recently went on an four-week Alpine climbing trip where they drove from Limerick to the South of France.
The lads, who are all part of UL’s Outdoor Pursuits Club, decided to turn the trip into a hurling expedition.
Ryan O’Hanlon, Tim Quinlin, Tony O’Connor, Cormac Kelly, Conor McNelis and Donal O Gallchobhair are out in the Junior B hurling Championship next week and couldn’t let the trip go by without working on their first touch.
Their solution? It’s pretty simple, they could practice their hurling on top of the glacier high up in the Alps.

We spoke to Ryan O’Hanlon, who made the video, and he told us that their hurling skills didn’t actually improve that much as a result of their unorthodox hurling training.
“My fingers were a bit numb and we lost the sliotar in a crevasse so I think that our touch wasnt anything to brag about.”
