Five months after the people of Ireland voted in favour of same-sex marriage, it was officially passed into law in the Seanad today.
The announcement was made in front of a relatively small audience earlier this afternoon, but when it was made, it was greeted with rapturous applause.

All that’s left to be done now is for the President to sign it into law and then October 22, 2015 will go down alongside May 23, 2015 as a momentous day in the history of this country.
