JOE is not one for too much sentimentality, but around Christmas our resolve starts to weaken as some magic in the air gets us feeling all Christmassy.

Last night on the Late Late was a great example, as Ryan Tubridy and Co. put together a great show that reunited a couple of family members that thought they would be spending yet another Christmas on opposite sides of the world. The first story (and main video) was of Lenna Kelly, who thought that she had missed the opportunity to win flights, in conjunction with Supermacs, to go see her brother Micheal in Australia.

Instead, Tubs only pulls the surprise of a lifetime when he brings Micheal and his kids out, who hadn’t been home for Christmas in 26 years. His wife had died a few years ago, and Lenna had never even met her two nephews, who were with him.

He wasn’t finished though, as he got another member of the audience, Madeline, and her daughters Suzanna and Amanda back together with their son and brother Gareth, and his wife Jacque and daughter Sadbh. Gareth hadn’t been home for Christmas for 15 years, and as he got Madeline chatting to the camera to give her a special message, Tubs pulled another surprise out of the bag.

Excuse us, there’s something in our eye…
