VIDEO: Vincent Browne’s question leaves Fianna Fáil candidate speechless

Paul Moore

The General Election broadcasts should be fun.

Vincent Browne’s People’s Debate was focused on the East Cork constituency last night and there was plenty of drama on TV3.

The four-seat constituency that runs from Cobh in the south to north of Mitchelstown looks set to be one of the most interesting ones in the upcoming election – it already has a pretty colourful recent past following allegations of financial irregularities with previous TDs – and there are currently a dozen candidates that are looking to fill the seats.

One of these prospective candidates is Barbara Ahern – daughter of Micheal Ahern, a TD for the constituency between 1982 to 2011 – and she was a guest on the show last night along with some of her fellow candidates.

Take a look at the reaction as Vincent Browne asks Ahern a perfectly legitimate question, “why should the Irish public vote for Fianna Fáil after the party were in power during the housing market crash?”

As the tweet below says, “rabbit in the headlights”…
