A very scary time for all involved…

Earlier this afternoon, a Virgin Atlantic jet bound for Las Vegas had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport after it developed a problem with its landing gear.

The airline says the plane undertook “a non-standard landing procedure” because of “a technical issue with one of the landing gears” and images showed the Boeing 747 on the runway as emergency vehicles waited nearby, standard procedure when a plane has to land with a technical problem.

We’re sure that it was an incredibly tense time for all involved but, thanks to the expert skills of the pilots and staff on board, the plane was able to make a safe emergency landing.

One man who was especially relieved was Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, who tweeted his thanks and praise for the heroic team on board the flight.
