Temperatures in the mid-20s forecast as warm weather is set for a comeback this week

But it’s not all good news.

The warm weather is set to return this week, but there’ll be plenty of rain to go with it.

Temperatures will reach as high as 24 degrees in what is set to be a very mixed bag on the weather front this week.

According to Met Éireann, Wednesday and Thursday will be the warmest days of the coming week, with maximum temperatures of 17 to 24 degrees and high levels of humidity in a repeat of conditions that had offices across the country sweltering last month.

Unlike that summery spell, however, this week is likely to be far more temperamental, with the promise of rain throughout, particularly earlier in the week when outbreaks of persistent and locally heavy rain have been forecast in Connacht, Ulster and north Leinster.

The rain is set to ease a little as the week goes on but there will still be spots of light rain and drizzle on Wednesday and Thursday, with the risk of heavy rain spreading from the Atlantic on Friday and into the weekend.

The early outlook for the weekend is that it will be cooler, with highest temperatures in the mid to late teens and some dry spells amidst changeable and unsettled conditions from Friday through until Sunday.

Pretty much what we’ve come to expect from an Irish summer at this stage.
