Spectacular view from the plane…
John Chambers from Cork was returning from his holidays in Greece last night when he captured this stunning footage of a lightning storm from the plane.
Captured somewhere between Greece and Italy last night, the footage shows flashes of lightning in the clouds as the plane passes by on its journey back to Dublin.
This is very cool…
Lightning discharges are known to occur between clouds without touching the ground and this is called intra-cloud lightning.
This lightning can be observed from a distance and these faint flashes of lightning on the horizon is known as “heat lightning”.
