WATCH: Luas release chilling footage showing dangerous near misses in Dublin

Be aware of your surroundings…

We’ve seen in recent weeks a campaign by Irish Rail to stop people taking chances at level crossings, where a number of people have come very close to disaster.

Now Luas have done something similar as they bid to increase the awareness of pedestrians and cyclists to the presence of the Luas on the tracks.

They’ve shown footage of a number of near misses along their lines which could easily have ended in tragedy for the people involved.

It’s all part of their campaign to make sure cyclists and pedestrians #BeTramAware when on the streets of the capital.

The Luas Cross City Project is set to be completed in December this year with 13 new stops added to the route.

As part of the works, the Luas Green Line will be extended from St Stephen’s Green on to the Iarnród Éireann Broombridge station in Cabra, with an interchange at Abbey Street for those wishing to change lines.

The new stop at O’Connell Street will be for those wanting to head north to Cabra while those wanting to head to Stephen’s Green or beyond will switch at the Marlborough stop.

Below is what it will look like once all the works are completed in December.
