WATCH: Scary footage shows extremely dangerous overtaking manoeuvre in Derry

This is unacceptable…

Safety on the roads should be the aim of every motorist and we’ve seen some incidences in recent weeks which highlight the potential dangers of driving.

Such as this drunk driver in Kildare and this driver dangerously exceeding the speed limit in Waterford.

This latest instance, shows a an ‘R’ driver narrowly avoiding a collision during an overtaking manoeuvre on the Limavady mountain road, Derry.

The footage was brought to our attention on Derry Now, was uploaded to the ‘Idiot drivers Northern Ireland’ Facebook page.

Amazingly, despite veering into the other hard shoulder, the car continued to maintain its speed before pulling back across the road behind the truck.

‘R’ plates have been in use for many years in Northern Ireland and are, basically, the equivalent of the new N-plate in the Republic of Ireland.

However, the maximum permitted speed for any vehicle displaying R-plates is 45 mph.

As reported by Derry Now, the footage has since been brought to the attention of the PSNI.
