WATCH: Scary footage shows very near miss between two cars in Kildare

Alan Loughnane

This could have ended in disaster…

More and more road users are using cameras on their cars and bicycles these days and some of the footage emerging from them is shocking.

Usually from cyclists, we see cars passing by them at high speed much too close for safety and comfort, but while out on a bike ride in Kildare recently, John Ruddy caught on video, a close call between two cars.

According to cycling website The Sticky Bottle, John was on a bike ride with the Naas Cycling Club on the Kildare to Nurney Road when he captured the example of poor driving.

The group of cyclists were overtaken by multiple cars without problem as there’s a broken white line, but one car made a burst to pass while there was oncoming traffic, forcing the approaching cars to brake sharply to avoid a collision.

John describes it as “the closest shave” he has ever seen on his bike.
