WATCH: Senator can barely keep from laughing when asked about Trump’s phone-tap allegations

Rory Cashin

In what many people believe was a way of diverting attention away from the whole Sessions/Russia scandal, Trump made one of hell of an accusation against the former President last week.

Trump claimed on Twitter that Obama had tapped his phones, a claim that he flat out denied ever happened.

The back and forth raged on throughout the week, and over the weekend Senator Al Franken – himself a potential candidate for the 2020 election – was asked about the issue while on ABC News, and he could barely contain himself from bursting out laughing.

Franken went on to tell them that he wants further independent investigation into the Trump/Sessions/Russia situation: “Here’s what I want to get to … His own son, Donald Trump’s son, has said in 2008, that Russia did an inordinate amount of business with them. And we don’t know what they have over him. We don’t know what the Russians have on Donald Trump. And we need — and we need to see, if anything — we need to see his tax returns.”

Yup, we still haven’t seen those tax returns!
