WATCH: A street in the centre of Kilkenny city was closed after a car caught fire this morning

Ormonde Street in Kilkenny has since reopened after emergency services extinguished the blaze.

Ormonde Street in the centre of Kilkenny was closed for a brief period on Thursday morning after a car caught fire across the road from Colaiste Pobail Osrai.

Footage recorded by Beat 102 103 showed a Peugeot 207 ablaze on the side of the road and it is believed that the car was alight for approximately 20 minutes.

Ormonde Street was closed off while emergency services tended to the car and eventually extinguished the blaze.

No injuries were reported and Ormonde Street eventually reopened shortly before midday.
