Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.
A man aged in his 50s is in a serious but stable condition following an incident of assault that took place in Waterford on Wednesday, 23 September.
The assault occurred on Hanover Street shortly before 9pm on Wednesday.
The injured party was later taken to Waterford University Hospital for treatment.
Gardaí are appealing to the public for information, particularly to any potential witnesses who may have video footage.
