The incident took place on Monday.
A man in his 30s has been charged in relation to a shooting that took place in Waterford on Monday afternoon, 23 December.
The incident occurred at approximately 2.15pm outside a premises near the Mount Suir Apartments on the Carrickphierish Road when a man was shot multiple times.
The victim was initially treated at the scene by ambulance personnel before he was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he remains in a critical condition.
On Friday (27 December), Gardaí formally charged a man in his 30s in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Friday evening.
Another man, also aged in his 30s, has been released without charge.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
