Ah. Lovely start to the weekend.

We hope you didn’t have plans that required you being outside much this weekend.

Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for all of Ireland, predicting very strong winds from 9pm on Saturday until 8pm the following day.

We are to expect “unseasonably windy on Saturday night and Sunday”, with strong and gusty westerly winds at times.

Crap.

And in case that’s not enough GOOD NEWS for you, Met Éireann has also issued a status yellow wind warning pertaining to seven counties: Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Clare and Donegal.

The warning notes: “Becoming very windy on Saturday night and for a time on Sunday with a risk of some disruption. South to southwest winds, veering westerly will reach mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts of 90-110km/h expected.”

The warning will remain in effect between 10pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.

Nice one.

A weekend for the couch, perhaps?

And on top of that, the United Kingdom’s Met Office has issued a similar warning for Derry and Antrim, which reads: “Strong winds may lead to some disruption on Sunday.”

This warning will be in place between midnight on Sunday and 4pm on the same day.
