We may not have had a white Christmas, but a white January is certainly on the horizon.
Met Éireann have issued a weather advisory for several counties this weekend, as snow and sleet are set to disrupt travel and services.
An update on the meteorological service’s website states: “Sleet and snow in places this weekend, with some disruption possible.
A weather advisory has been issued as sleet and snow are expected in some parts of the country. ❄️🥶

“A spell of rain will spread northwards over Ireland during the course of Saturday, turning to sleet and snow in some areas. Rain, sleet and snow will continue for a time on Sunday before clearing eastwards into the Irish Sea.
They added: “Significant accumulations of snow are likely in some counties.”
Potential impacts include hazardous travelling conditions and travel & service disruption.
The advisory is effective from 12am Saturday until 12am on Monday.
Met Eireann have also issued a status yellow low temperature and ice warning for the whole of Ireland, effective from later today.
The warning kicks in at 6pm this evening – and will last until 11am tomorrow. Forecasters are predicting widespread frost and ice with temperatures plummeting to -3C or even lower in many areas nationwide.
Friday will be a very frosty one, with a few isolated fog patches possible. Highest temperatures of just 3 to 5 degrees are expected tomorrow so wrap up well if you’re out and about.
