The weather in Australia is unbelievably hot at the moment

Joe Harrington

Your Irish friends Down Under must be sizzling.

While the weather here varies from freezing to a little less freezing, the conditions in Australia are absolutely scorching.

The temperature in Queensland, where Brisbane and Cairns are the biggest cities, broke the 40°C mark over the past few days while Sydney and Melbourne were both between 35°C and 40°C.

The highest recorded temperature recorded in Oz over the weekend was a whopping 47°C, that was further inland, and several weather stations reported all-time and monthly record highs.

You have to think of all those poor pasty Irish people suffering under that kind of heat, they must be sweating buckets over there.

To put into perspective how hot it is, these policemen were able to fry eggs in a frying pan by putting it on their jeep bonnet.
