Temperatures are dropping fast, with Met Éireann confirming that lows of zero to 4C and ground frost are expected overnight – Sunday 23 September.
Showers will become increasingly confined to coastal districts of the north and northwest on Sunday night, while most places will be dry, clear and cold throughout the night and into Monday morning.
Monday will be dry for most places with good sunshine, with just a few showers occurring in the far north and northwest.

Following a cold start to Monday morning, highest afternoon temperatures will reach 13 or 14 degrees in mainly light westerly or variable breezes, moderate along northern and northwestern coasts.
Expect high pressure to last throughout the week, resulting in settled weather for most areas. Rain will occur in the north and northwest from time to time.
Monday night will be dry and mostly clear with cold spells in the east in the form of light breezes. The west will be less cold with a moderate southerly wind, with lows of four to nine degrees forecast.
Tuesday will be dry in most areas. However some rain is likely in the northwest and it will be a breezy day with moderate to fresh southwest winds.
Daytime temperatures will still be on the cool side, between 12 and 15 degrees.
Tuesday night will be dry in most areas but outbreaks of rain may continue in northern parts. Much milder compared to the nights before with lows of 10 to 12 degrees and staying breezy.
Wednesday and Thursday will see a mild improvement in moderate southwest winds.
Rain is still likely from time to time in the north but otherwise the outlook is mostly dry with some sunshine and temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees at best on both days.
Current indications are that Friday and next weekend will be largely dry as well with sunny spells and mainly light breezes.
