Hardly a huge surprise.
Irish people were given a welcome break from what seems like about six months of winter on Wednesday, when dare we say pleasant conditions were welcomed throughout the country.
It was mild enough to even venture outdoors in a t-shirt, while, even though there was a stiff enough breeze in the evening, there were hints of people taking to outdoor beer gardens to enjoy a long overdue drink in the sunshine.
While it wasn’t a scorcher or anything like it, Wednesday did represent the warmest day of the year in some parts of the country, with Met Éireann weather stations in the Phoenix Park in Dublin and in Malin Head in Donegal both reaching 20 degrees during the day.
Maximum temperature for today (and the year so far):
Our stations at Malin Head and Phoenix Park both reached 20.0 degrees Celsius!☀️

20 degrees, folks!
Temperature figures for Wednesday for stations throughout the rest of the country, meanwhile, will soon be available on Met Éireann’s brand new website here.
The good news is that the warm weather is set to continue for the immediate future at least, with sunny spells and temperatures expected to reach 20 degrees again on Thursday, when north Leinster will enjoy the best of the conditions.
It will be warm again on Friday and Saturday with temperatures again touching 20 degrees, although there will be occasional showers and it will turn chilly at night on both nights.
Sunday is expected to be significantly cooler with passing showers, which will turn heavier moving into the start of next week.
Best enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
