It’s here.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow low temperature warning for the entire country as the much anticipated Beast from the East begins to make its presence felt nationwide.

Issued at 5pm on Tuesday, the warning came into effect at 6pm on Tuesday and will remain in place until 11am on Wednesday morning, with temperatures as low as -5 degrees expected overnight.

Temperatures could drop even lower than that in western and northwestern counties, where the mercury might not even rise above zero on what is likely to be a freezing day on Wednesday.

The most recent warning is one of three weather warnings in place for Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning; there’s also a status orange snow-ice warning for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath and a status yellow snow-ice warning for Kilkenny, Longford, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

All warnings will remain in place until 11am on Wednesday, but in all likelihood, there will be plenty more to follow in the coming days.
