The weather is even more all over the shop than usual this week.

Hours after issuing a weather warning for seven counties in light of the expected arrival of Storm Caroline on Thursday, Met Éireann have issued a second status yellow wind warning for four counties that comes into effect on Wednesday.

The warning applies to Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Kerry, where southerly winds of 50 to 65 km/h are expected, with gusts of 90 to 110km/h along coastal areas on Wednesday.

The warning comes into effect on Wednesday morning at 6am and is valid until 11pm on Wednesday night, which is only four hours before the status yellow wind warning issued earlier on Tuesday comes into effect.

Those four counties, along with Leitrim, Sligo and Clare, are all affected by the status yellow wind warning issued for Thursday, when Ireland will be affected by Storm Caroline, an Atlantic Storm due to pass close to the north coast of Scotland on Thursday morning.

And that’s before we even mention the severe frost and snow showers forecast for Thursday and heading into the weekend, with temperatures expected to drop to as low as -3 degrees in places.

It’s going to be an interesting few days on the weather front, alright.
