Another day, another weather warning.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Met Éireann, between a series of storms and regular updates on the weather warning front.

Speaking of, yet another new warning has officially been issued by the national forecaster, with Thursday (24 February) set to continue in the blustery vein we’ve become accustomed to lately.

A Status Yellow wind warning will be in place for six counties – Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

According to Met Éireann, very strong and gusty west to northwest winds are expected, potentially causing hazardous driving conditions with squally wintry showers.

This warning is in place from 8am on Thursday until 6pm on the same day.

It follows on from a separate Status Yellow warning referring to snow and ice, applying to three counties – Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

Valid from 10pm on Wednesday until 10am on Thursday, it states that blustery showers of hail, sleet and snow with icy stretches on untreated surfaces will lead to hazardous driving conditions.

A third Status Yellow warning remains in place on Wednesday until 3pm, with strong winds forecast in Donegal and Mayo.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a Status Yellow warning of its own for Antrim, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

This warning is now in place and remains valid until 3pm on Thursday.

“Frequent heavy snow showers are expected, along with very gusty winds and a small chance of frequent lightning affecting some places,” the Met Office warning states.
