A weather warning has just come into effect across the country

Tony Cuddihy

weather warning

So much for our Indian summer.

We got it wrong. Well, technically Met Éireann misled us, but when we suggested on Saturday that today would be a day for the sun cream and a 99 we may have been a bit wide of the mark.

We’re sorry.

It turns out that a Status Yellow rainfall warning has been in place since midday on Sunday and is expected remain active until 4pm, as Ireland gets battered by the tail-end of Hurricane Gert.

With warm and humid conditions also taking over, we’re in danger of seeing rainfall of up to 5cm across the country.

The warning covers all of Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Clare and northern Tipperary.
