Met Éireann issues weather warning for three counties

weather warning

The misery continues.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford ahead of potential spot flooding in those counties in the coming days.

The warning, issued at 8am on Wednesday morning, comes into effect at 6pm on Wednesday evening and will remain in place until 6pm on Thursday.

Met Éireann has warned that heavy rain will lead to accumulations of between 25mm and 50mm of rain and that spot flooding is possible as a result. There is the potential for higher values in mountainous areas.

Outside of Cork, Kerry and Waterford, the outlook is similarly bleak for the rest of the country, with generally unsettled weather forecast as wet and windy conditions look set to prevail in the coming days.

It will be cool and dry at times between now and the weekend, with temperatures dropping to just above freezing on Saturday, while there’s also a potential risk of hail and thunder thrown into the mix.

It’s certainly not very Christmassy weather in any case; fingers crossed that will eventually arrive closer to the big day itself.
