Rainfall warning set to pave way for sunshine this weekend

Great news for Forbidden Fruit revellers.

It looks like Friday’s rainfall and flooding warning is set to give us a weekend of sunny spells and dry days, as Met Éireann forecasts a pretty good weekend for all.

Although the south of the country will experience slightly cooler temperatures overall, it seems that this weekend is set to hit, at least, the 20 degree mark across the country.

According to the national broadcaster, Saturday will be “mainly dry with hazy sunshine.”

“In the afternoon heavy and thundery showers will develop in the north and west, continuing into the evening. Other areas will remain largely dry with just isolated showers.

“Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees but it will be a few degrees cooler in the south and southeast. Winds will stay mainly light and variable.”

Sunday sees yet another day of warm and humid weather, with sunny spells forecast throughout the country. Showers are likely to develop later in the day, keeping mostly to the west and north.

Highs of 19 to 23 degrees are forecast, with slightly cooler weather to be expected in coastal regions. Fog is also expected on Sunday night and well into the Bank Holiday Monday morning.

As for Friday, a Status Yellow warning has been put in place for between 9am and 10pm, with Met Éireann predicting up to 50mm of rainfall throughout the day.
