Wet week ahead but the weekend is set to be glorious

Rain

The fair weather summer we’re having is not over yet.

Friday night saw the country awash with heavy rain as Ireland’s drought had ended following a prolonged dry spell.

The rain was met with a collective sigh of relief as farmers, florists and umbrella-makers everywhere jumped for joy. Not to mention, the grass looked a little thirsty.

As far as this week is concerned, another few days of showers are to be expected – resulting in a weekend that wouldn’t go astray after this week’s flooding.

According to Met Éireann, most areas will be dry for the rest of the weekend, with just a few isolated showers. Maximum temperatures will range from 15 – 19 degrees Celsius.

Outbreaks of showery rain will also start to develop in western coastal areas later on Sunday evening.  Much of the same is expected for Monday.

“Monday night showers will continue in the west and north and later in the night cloud will increase from the west with showers merging possibly into longer spells of rain,” the forecast reads.

The weather appears to be gradually getting better during the week, as Wednesday, Thursday and Friday appear dry and mild.

From Friday onwards, high pressure is likely to build over Ireland and it will be mostly dry with just the odd shower.

“Temperatures are forecast to be in the high teens to low twenties in just light variable breezes.”
