This week’s weather isn’t looking very Christmassy

There’s no snow on the horizon just yet.

You can’t always bank on Irish weather to provide a white Christmas, but you can genuinely stick your money on a wet Christmas. And it seems like that’s what we’re bracing for in the coming week.

According to Met Éireann, Monday morning will see frost on the grass before the good old rain sweeps in — mostly affecting Ulster and Connacht.

Tuesday will begin dry in the central counties, but sure enough before long — “The rain will then gradually spread eastwards during the evening with some heavy bursts possible.”

Still, it won’t be too long. Across the week it seems like minimum temperatures of between 5 and 8 degrees are what’s to be expected, with the occasional highs of temperatures in the low teens. Practically t-shirt weather really… But certainly not the kind of weather that will put you in the mood for Christmas.

The weather beyond Wednesday becomes harder to predict but Met Éireann expected it to remain unsettled, which means, YOU GUESSED IT, more rain and drizzle.
