Man in his 30s dies following collision with tree in Wexford

Tragic news.

A man has died after a single-vehicle collision in Wexford on Sunday night (14 August).

The crash occurred at 10.40pm in the townland of Bargy Commons in Cleariestown.

A passenger was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in collided with a tree.

The passenger, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed from the scene to Waterford General Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.

The driver of the car, a man in his late 30s, was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.

The R733 at Bargy Commons in Cleariestown is currently closed in both directions as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene.

Local diversions are in place, and the road will remain closed on Monday (15 August), until the examination has concluded.

Any road users who were travelling in the area and who may have camera footage, including dash cam, is being asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
