So close yet so far away.

A Wexford Lotto player has come in just one number short of taking home the €8,358,554 jackpot in Saturday night’s draw.

Lotto players in the South East of Ireland are being urged to check their tickets carefully today after the player matched five numbers and the bonus to win €162,228 in the Saturday night draw – just one number short of the massive jackpot.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw at the Applegreen Service Station in Millands, Gorey, Co. Wexford.

As the jackpot wasn’t won on Saturday, it means that Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot will now sit at a whopping €9 million.

The winning numbers for last night’s Lotto draw were: 08, 11, 29, 42, 44, 46 and the bonus was 18.

The winning ticket holder is advised to sign the back of their ticket, which is now worth €162,228, and contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email [email protected] and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize.

“We are appealing to all of our Wexford Lotto players who purchased their tickets in the Gorey area to check their tickets carefully today after one lucky player matched five numbers and the bonus to win €162,228 in last night’s draw,” a spokesperson for the National Lottery said.

“Wednesday it is set to roll to an estimated €9 million. We are reminding players dreaming of winning big that the cut-off time for purchasing Lotto tickets for the next draw is 7.45pm on Wednesday evening.”
