For once, here’s a BMW with a cock on the outside
Political satire can come in many forms. It can be subtle and intelligent, it can be large scale and blatant, or, as a group of Putin supporters have shown, it can come in the form of a giant wooden penis strapped to a BMW.
Arseny Bobrovsky and Katya Romanovskaya run the popular parody and satire account @KermlinRussia on Twitter, and have garnered a pretty huge following in their native Russia, taking the mick out of the government. However, that can make you as many enemies as it can friends, and after it was revealed that the two were behind the account, Putin’s mates decided to make a statement by attaching a 200lb sculpture to Arseny’s car.

For his part, Arseny seems to have taken it pretty well, stating on Facebook that “Finally, the day has come when my work has been noticed and appreciated”. According to The Independent, the police were laughing too hard to “get their act together” and remove the penis, but it’s also quite a difficult task because it weighs so much.
The level of detail is pretty impressive, it must be said, and rather than a crude representation they look to have gone to a bit of trouble to make their point. However, we don’t want to compliment them too much, as they seem to be a bit cocky already.
