Very sad news from Donegal.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a woman in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash in Donegal last night (27 December).

Gardaí have also said that the woman had been driving the car at the time of the crash, and that only one vehicle was involved.

The incident occurred at Drumfad Lower, Portsalon at around 11.30pm on Friday evening. A man in his 20s has also been brought to Letterkenny Hospital as a result of the collision, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road remains closed pending an examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward, particularly any road users who may have dash-cam footage of the Kerrykeel to Portsalon road (R246) at approximately 11.30pm yesterday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on 074 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
