Woman, 20s, dies in Donegal after falling from moving bus and being struck by passing vehicle

Tragic news.

Gardaí are investigating the death of a woman, aged in her late 20s, in Donegal Town after falling from a moving bus and being struck by a passing vehicle.

The fatal road traffic collision occurred at Ardnawark in Barnesmore Gap at around 3.45pm on Friday afternoon.

A Garda spokesperson said in a statement: “A female passenger on a bus, in her late 20s, was seriously injured when she fell from the moving bus and was struck by a passing vehicle.”

The injured woman was airlifted by helicopter to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where she passed away on Friday evening.

A post mortem will take place in due course, the Garda spokesperson said.

The road remains closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct their examination of the scene on Saturday morning. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the townland of Ardnawark on Friday afternoon and who may have camera footage (including dashcam) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
