A Garda investigation is now underway following the serious assault of a woman in Co. Tipperary on Saturday evening.
The woman, aged in her 20s, has been named locally as Scarlett Faulkner, a mother to a six-year-old daughter.
Scarlett Faulkner was reportedly attacked on the R494 at Birdhill near the M7 in Co. Tipperary. She was rushed to the hospital following the attack, where her condition has been described as critical.
She was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick with severe head injuries, but was later transferred to University Hospital Cork.
It is understood that two people attacked Scarlett Faulkner on Saturday, March 21st, but others were also present during the attack.
Ms. Faulkner is a respected member of the Traveller community in Limerick.
Gardaí have urged witnesses to come forward following the serious assault.
They issued a statement after Ms. Faulkner's attack:
“Any road users who were on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway between 5 pm and 6 pm on Saturday, 21st March 2026, and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí."
They also urged the public not to share a video of the incident on social media.
“Gardaí are aware of video footage of the incident circulating online and ask members of the public not to share it on social media platforms or messaging apps, but instead to provide it to investigating gardaí,” they added.

Investigations are ongoing.
