A woman has been arrested following significant Wexford cash seizure

Wexford cash seizure arrests

A total of €1.7 million was seized by Gardaí on Saturday.

Gardaí have arrested a 39-year-old woman in connection with a cash seizure in Wexford on Saturday.

The woman is currently being detained in Wexford Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

This brings the total number of arrests to five, with the current total of money seized amounting to €1.7 million.

On Saturday morning, Gardaí stopped two vehicles off the Clonard Road in Wexford Town and a substantial sum of cash was seized.

Officers attached to Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau conducted further searches in Wexford on Saturday evening and seized an additional amount of cash.

Four men aged 47, 44, 38 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences.

One man has been released pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions, while the remaining four people arrested in connection with the search remain in custody.
