Gardaí in Limerick are investigating a serious attack on a woman last night.
The 37-year-old was attacked at a house in Hassetts Villas in Thomondgate, according to RTÉ.
The woman, who is in a critical condition, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with possible stab wounds. Her condition is described as critical but stable.
A 28-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and is being detained at Henry Street Garda station in Limerick city under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
