Very sad news.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Kildare on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2.30pm, a female pedestrian in her 60s was struck by a truck at Duke Street, Athy.
The woman received attention from emergency services but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Her body has been removed to Nass Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene and local diversions are in place.
