A woman has died and two children were rescued after a car they were travelling in entered the River Lee in Cork City. The incident happened at Kennedy Quay at around 8.45pm on Friday (3 June). After being rescued from the water, the two children were taken to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The body of the woman, 40s, was later recovered following the arrival of a dive team with the Irish Naval Service. The woman’s body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be conducted. A Garda spokesperson has said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
