Tragic news.
A woman has tragically died during a “Climb With Charlie” fundraiser on Saturday (2 April).
The woman, in her early 50s, has been named locally as Cora O’Grady.
O’Grady became unwell at approximately 1pm as she reached the summit of the Galtymore Climb.
The climb was one of hundreds of events around the country in aid of Pieta House and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
She passed away on the summit.
Gardaí in Cahir were notified of the situation, and assisted Mountain Rescue and Coast Guard rescue in removing O’Grady’s body from the Galtee Mountains.
She has since been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
