The woman had been out walking her dog when the collision occurred.
Gardaí in Wexford are currently investigating a serious hit and run road traffic collision that occurred at Millands, Gorey on Monday morning.
In a statement, Gardaí confirmed that at 7.30am, a 59-year-old woman was out walking her dog when she was struck by a vehicle, which failed to remain at the scene.
Emergency services attended the scene and the woman was removed to St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin, where her condition is described as serious.
The road was subsequently closed to facilitate Forensic Collision Investigators, but has since been reopened.
Gardaí are currently appealing to any persons in the area who may have dash cam footage or anyone who may have information about the collision.
