An absolutely horrible story.
A woman who is said to have been about eight months pregnant has been stabbed to death in south London.
According to the BBC, Scotland Yard said her baby had been delivered by paramedics and taken to hospital.
The child remains in a critical condition.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, at roughly 3.30pm, at a home in Croydon.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime, and a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan took to Twitter to pay his condolences following the incident, saying that “violence against women has no place” in London.
Violence against women has no place in our city, and horrific murders in the home like this show the scale of the problem we face.
My heart goes out to this innocent child, and to the mother they have so tragically lost. @MetPoliceUK are investigating – please help if you can. https://t.co/ia8vIuViET
