One man has died following a workplace accident at Dublin Port

This is the second death to happen at Dublin Port in a matter of months.

One man has died following to a workplace-related accident at Dublin Port.

Gardaí in Store Street are investigating the incident which caused the sudden death of a man in his 30s.

Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene at Ocean Pier, Dublin Port shortly after 11.30am on Wednesday morning.

The man was taken from the scene to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An examination of the scene was later carried out by Gardaí and enquires are ongoing. The health and Safety Authority and the local Coroner have been notified.

Several months ago, another man died at Dublin Port after he fell into the water in the early hours of the morning.

It’s understood that the man was attempting to access the pier from a boat docked at the port when he fell.
