Wrap up warm tonight as parts of Ireland are set to drop to 0C

Winter is here.

We had a good run, didn’t we?

Remember the summer, which felt like it went on (conservative estimate) for about 15 years? It got to the point where we started running out of water and people actively complained about it being too hot.

Those were good times.

And now… now we’ve finally got the first 0C of the winter. Hooray?

Met Eireann’s forecast for Wednesday night shows that parts of the country had better break out the hot water bottles later on:

“Apart from a few showers on the west coast, tonight will be cold and dry with clear spells and some patches of mist and fog. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with frost developing in places.”

Thankfully, the rest of the week looks set to pick up a little bit, with temperatures over the weekend predicted to actually climb as high as 18 degrees, which is practically summer-y again.

And it doesn’t look like the rest of our October is going to be particularly bad, either.

Midland Weather Channel predict that “During this period we can expect some very pleasant spells of Autumn sunshine, with many areas seeing little or no rainfall. Temperatures by day would range between 9-15 degrees Celsius, but the nights would be cold and frosty.”

So… maybe Winter isn’t here yet, after all?
