Irish weather warnings

Spring hasn’t sprung just yet.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for five Irish counties, with a miserable week of weather ahead.

The national forecaster issued the weather warning for Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Galway, which is in place from 10.30am on Sunday, March 24, until 12pm on Monday, March 25.

A description of the warning stated: “Heavy rain at times today for all of Kerry and for western parts of Cork, Limerick, Clare and Galway.”

Potential impacts of the heavy rain include localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

Unfortunately, the weather doesn’t look much better for the rest of the country for the next few days, with Met Éireann saying that rain and drizzle north eastwards throughout the day.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle, some heavy, are expected tonight, especially in the west and southwest, with the likelihood of some localised flooding. Patches of mist and fog also.

The week ahead will be “unsettled and fairly cool, with further spells of rain or showers. Some of the showers and rain will be heavy with some spot flooding expected.”
