Young girl rushed to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Cork

A young girl has been rushed to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Belgooly, Co. Cork.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the R600 road in the village of Belgooly.

Emergency services and Gardaí rushed to the scene of the accident at around 6:30 pm on Wednesday evening.

The air ambulance was also called to the scene.

The young girl was transported to Cork University Hospital following the incident.

She is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí confirmed that an investigation is now underway following the incident.

The news comes after a four-year-old boy sadly lost his life in a road accident in Mullingar.

Abdur Rehman was tragically killed in a road accident in Farranshock Estate, Mullingar, on Easter Monday.

He had celebrated his birthday on Saturday, April 19th.

He was treated at the scene of the accident, but was then transported to Mullingar Hospital.

The young boy was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital.

A family friend told RTÉ that the young boy hadn’t even opened all of his birthday presents.

They shared: “They were keeping some for him so he could open one every day.”

“The family just moved here a few months ago. We helped them move. They are a hardworking family, same as everyone here. It’s so sad for everyone.”
