The English reaction to Jordan Larmour says a lot about the young man

Alan Loughnane

The chatter has started…

Former Leinster and current Wasps centre Brendan Macken was a guest on The Hard Yards rugby podcast last week alongside hosts Andy McGeady and Pat McCarry.

Macken left Leinster to venture across the water to test himself first at Gloucester, before settling in Coventry with Wasps alongside a host of the world’s best talent.

But there’s a player named in the current Irish squad who many of these stars of world rugby were enquiring about according to Macken.

We’re talking about the young hot shot at Leinster called Jordan Larmour. You can listen to what was said about Larmour in England from 13:50 below.

If you don’t have time to listen to it now, here’s a quick rundown of what was said. Chatter about Larmour began in earnest recently, “Especially after the try he scored against Munster,” Macken said.

“I watched it with a few of the [Wasps] lads and after that everyone was thinking, ‘Who the hell is this guy?’

“He reminds me of Rob [Kearney] a small bit, in the way he runs – that explosiveness he’s got and his back being hunched. He is absolutely on fire at the moment and it is great to see him included. For such a young guy, it looks like any big occasion doesn’t faze him and he takes it all in his stride.”
