Quite strong words from the UK Prime Minister.
Reports during the week suggested that Boris Johnson was due to make an official Brexit proposal at some point on Wednesday, with many speculating he would share some information about it during the Conservative Party’s annual conference.
Johnson didn’t offer a great deal of information about the proposal during his speech on Wednesday, but he did state that there won’t be border checks “under any circumstances”.
He said:
“We will under no circumstances have checks at or near the border in Northern Ireland.”
Johnson went on to say that the proposal that is being given to the EU on Wednesday is “constructive and reasonable, and provides a compromise for both sides”.

Johnson was also adamant that his proposal will respect the peace process and the Good Friday Agreement.
The Prime Minister ended the speech by issuing a plea to his supporters to get Brexit finalised, saying:
“Figuratively, if not literally, let us send Jeremy Corbyn into orbit where he belongs. Let’s get Brexit done. Let’s bring this country together.”
Simon Coveney said on Tuesday night that he was yet to see any of the UK’s official plans as of yet, and that any proposals would be studied carefully.
