Brexit now has a new slogan in the UK, and it will look very familiar

Alan Loughnane

Well, a new slogan from the Remain side…

It was revealed by Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, that Brexit will cost the UK £59 billion.

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) said that there would be £122 billion in extra borrowing over the next five years and £59 billion of that would be as a direct result of Brexit.

You may remember during the referendum in the UK, there was the infamous “NHS bus” doing the rounds.

The writing on the bus read: “We send the EU 350 million a week, let’s fund our NHS instead. Vote Leave. Let’s take back control.”

The good people over at Indy100 have created an alternative slogan for the bus, which they duly obliged some photoshop to…

It reads: “Brexit will cost the UK £58.7 billion, let’s fund our NHS instead. Let’s take back control.”

Earlier today, Irish Minster for Foreign Affairs shared a passage of Theresa May’s letter to Donald Tusk triggering the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.

In the letter May spoke of Ireland stating: “In particular, we must pay attention to the UK’s unique relationship with the Republic of Ireland and the importance of the peace process in Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is the only EU member state with a land border with the United Kingdom. We want to avoid a return to a hard border between our two countries, to be able to maintain the Common Travel Area between us, and to make sure that the UK’s withdrawal from the EU does not harm the Republic of Ireland. We also have an important responsibility to make sure that nothing is done to jeopardise the peace process in Northern Ireland, and to continue to uphold the Belfast Agreement.”

For the day that’s in it, jokes about Brexit have been going out thick and fast on Twitter, here’s a quick look at some of them.
