Donald Trump takes aim at the the Democrats’ first major presidential candidate for 2020

It’s not the first time he’s locked horns with Elizabeth Warren.

Donald Trump, who bruised and berated his way through the primary and general elections in 2016, has now turned his focus to Elizabeth Warren — the first high-profile Democrat to announce that she will be seeking her party’s nomination to run for president.

Warren, a Senator from Massachusetts, has faced controversy in the past for making claims about her Native American heritage. She was given “minority status” as a professor at Harvard, which resulted in criticism from political opponents and those in the native community over the perception that she has exaggerated her Native American background.

In late 2018, Warren took a DNA test that was consistent with the her having a single Native American ancestor. According to Warren, this ancestor was in her family during some time in the 1800s.

Donald Trump, in mocking this controversy, has often referred to Warren insultingly as “Pocahontas,” and on Thursday he doubled down on his insults of his rival-to-be.

In a post on his personal Twitter page, Trump has mocked the controversy surrounding Warren’s ethnicity, resharing a meme created by The Daily Wire. It is a mock up of an election poster, but instead of “Warren 2020” it reads “Warren 1/2020th”.

The meme was originally created by The Daily Wire, an American conservative news and opinion website founded in 2015 by political commentator Ben Shapiro.

Warren hasn’t responded to the dig on her own Twitter account.
