Micheál Martin trying to describe Leo Varadkar in one word is hilariously awkward

He really struggles, to put it mildly…

It sucks being put on the spot. It really does.

It must be even worse to be put on the spot on national radio days before a general election when you’re the favourite to be the country’s new Taoiseach, and completely making a hash of it.

So we’ve a bit of sympathy for Micheál Martin, but even he will surely admit that this is absolutely hilarious.

When asked on Thursday by Ivan Yates on Newstalk to describe current Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in one word, it takes him 33 seconds of stuttering and stumbling until he decided on “spin”.

Take a look at the moment here, in all its glory:

Quite simply put, that is just magnificent stuff.

He was later asked the same question about Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald, where his answer was “faux-outrage”. Granted, that one only took him a few seconds.

The country will go to the polls this Saturday, and given the nature of the online news cycle, we expect this to be forgotten about in 24 hours.

Now let me watch the video again.
