US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has been hospitalised after a fall which resulted in three broken ribs.

The 85-year-old Supreme Court Justice fell at her office but later went to hospital after experiencing discomfort. She is currently being monitored.

Tests showed that she had fractured three ribs on her left side and she has been admitted for observation and treatment.

Since his election in 2016, Donal Trump has appointed two new judges to Supreme Court, replacing the deceased Anton Scalia and the retired Anthony Kennedy.

Neil Gorsuch was confirmed shortly after Trump took office without much controversy. However, Trump’s more recent appointed, Brett Kavanaugh, was invested by the FBI for sexual assault — and quizzed about the alleged incident in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Nevertheless, he was confirmed by the Senate.

The bench of nine judges is currently titled 5-4 in favour of conservatives, but with Ginsburg at the age of 85 and Stephen Breyer at the age of 80, it is plausible that Donald Trump could have the opportunity to further increase that margin should either choose to retire.

Ginsburg is known as the leading liberal voice on the Supreme Court bench, an American liberals will be profoundly concerned for her wellbeing.
